I love this time of year, not just because it’s Christmas and cozy, but it seems also that the many talented artisans and designers come out of the woodwork for seasonal markets. Whether you’re shopping for yourself or someone on your list, there are a few not to be missed markets happening this weekend:
Toque is the annual fundraiser and market put on by Western Front, a non-profit arts organization. This little diddy begins on Friday evening, and you’ll find things like cards, textiles, some fashion, jewelry, and more. I would head on over to Toque for the Friday opening night, and hit the other markets over the remainder of the weekend.
With at least 25 designers, including the likes of Morena Clothing from Victoria, Adhesif, ceramics by artists like Elizabeth Burritt and Laura McKibbon, and so so much more, Shiny Fuzzy Muddy should be a definite stop this weekend, located at the Heritage Hall on Main St. They promise no door admission, and no Christmas music. I wouldn’t mind the sappy Christmas tunes but you either love it or you hate it, and the haters always complain more, so I get it.
Got Craft? will be over at the Croatian Cultural Centre, and that will be a big one with over 80 vendors. They’ll be handing out swag bags to the first 50 people through the door each day, plus running workshops throughout the weekend. I wouldn’t miss the letterpress tutorial with Sam Bradd, but the others look great as well! This one is $3 entry and also runs both Saturday and Sunday.
