(212) boutique owners Scott Walhovd and Anthony Castro proved they will remain a fixture in Gastown’s shopping district after showing their Spring 08 house collection on October 18th, inspired by the nostalgic quality of vacation and glowing sunsets. With Rogers Chocolates and delicious sparkling wine concoctions served up within the Centre A Gallery venue not far from their boutique in Gastown, an invite-only crowd gathered to see what these newcomers from New York would be offering us next summer.

Egyptian cottons and silks graced the runway, easily transitioning from the dark neutrality of Fall hues with lightened greys and creams, punctuated by the occasional burst of vibrant, Mediterranean color. Walhovd and Castro wisely stuck with their penchant for jersey, acknowledging that many Vancouver women want comfort without having to sacrifice style or diversity.

We loved the silky tanks, high-waisted pants that didn’t go overboard, crested tees, and golden notions like brassy buttons and gladiator sandals. Erin Templeton deserves credit for the shoulder-slung leather bags that nicely complimented the breezy spring collection, while Shelly Walsh’s wide-brimmed hats channelled memories of sunny vacations. Whether you’ll be adventuring off to warm international destinations or kicking up the sand on Vancouver’s beaches next summer, (212)’s Spring 08 collection is situated to become a staple in your hot-weather wardrobe.
