Obakki’s exclusive Fall Launch fashion show on October 25th catered to
Standout pieces from the final collection by designers Genevieve Graham and David Wallace included the men’s coat with high collar, which features a subtle metallic edge; the men’s pinstripe pant, blazer and coat ensemble; women’s deep v-neck gold gown, with its dare-to-bare plunging neckline; and the women’s wide-leg pants with cuff and matching long wool coat with epaulets. Leather detailing was also a prevalent feature within the collection, which adopted a palette of neutral whites, blacks, and earthy creams and browns. Production in the accessory department is also flourishing with notebooks, laptop bags, shoulder bags, handbags, clutches and business card holders crafted out of fine leather, joined by scarves of felt, wool, cashmere and camel hair to form an extensive collection of complimentary pieces. Keep your eyes open for new jewellery from Citrine by the Stones and local Dominic Designs, some of which will also incorporate leather materials, arriving soon.
Audience members got a sneak peek at the work of the new design team, who created the Holiday 07/08 pieces and will unveil their first full collection for Obakki in Spring 2008: Elizabeth Davies, Tara Hatch, Sunita Linde and Jessica Jaski will collaboratively design the men’s and women’s collections under the creative direction of Obakki’s owner, Treana Peake. Obakki is all about showcasing fresh design talent, and this mantra creates a beautiful opportunity for re-invention. We’re looking forward to seeing how far the bar rises.
