The BESTEST MOST WONDERFUL SUPER DOPEST CLOTHING SWAP OF ALL TIME went off spendidly on Monday evening – about 10 of us were there and we all contributed towards a massive pile of clothes in the centre of the Grace Gallery. We also managed to work out the best system ever for a clothing swap, for your future information:
Wait until everyone arrives. Set aside an hour or so to drink wine, laugh lots, and meet anyone you don’t know yet while you start sifting through the pile of clothes. Feel free to try stuff on throughout this time, and keep a mental tally of everything you like.
Everyone managed to create little piles of their favourite items; we went through our piles one at a time, standing in a circle, and as each item was held up everyone else had the chance to dispute the pick. Upon any dispute, all interested parties had to try it on and it went to group vote – whoever it looked best on got the piece. There were even a couple of walk-offs for the choice items.
If it looked good on two or more people, the dispute was settled by RPS: Rock, Paper, Scissors.
Stretching before an RPS battle is highly recommended. I won two battles; a pair of ankle cowboy boots, and an oversized collared tunic. Kim and Rachel are battling over a grey sweater here; Rachel won it, but Kim managed to trade her for a different piece later on. She wanted it real bad, as you can see from the full leg stretching.
The RPS portion of the swap was truly epic. After this, we went through the rest of the pile and held everything up one by one to make sure we didn’t miss any gems. Once we were satisfied we had gone through every speck of clothing, all the discards were bagged up to be sent off to charity while we went home with our fabulous new finds!
Photos of all my sweet sweet scores to come, but I am most happy with a pair of denimbirds jeans that Shallom from Stylefinds threw my way, and said boots which I won with my mad RPS skills.

haha that is awesome
