The second season of Project Runway Canada, the successful spin-off of the popular US reality TV show Project Runway, premieres tonight on Global TV. Fourteen fashion designers will compete for a top prize of $100,000 and a spread in Elle Canada Magazine.
Hosted by supermodel Iman, the show welcomes back judges Rita Silvan (Editor-in-Chief of Elle Canada), Shawn Hewson (Creative Director of Bustle Clothing), and mentor Brian Bailey.
I spoke with contestant Kim Cathers of kdon to find out how her nerves were holding up prior to the airing of the premiere episode tonight.

I just wanted to post an update notifying all our readers that The Conveyor Belt will be back to normal soon! With summer, a couple of personal losses, having to find a new home in Vancouver (not an easy task), and an upcoming camping trip, it’s been difficult to update daily as I so faithfully did before.
If you’re headed up to the Pemberton Festival this weekend, I think that:
A) you’re looney tunes, and
B) you must go find the Mondo Spider guys. They’re taking their 1,600 lb steel spider machine to the festival for all 40,000 fans to enjoy, so don’t miss it.
I am heading up to Cariboo Country for a couple of weeks with family and friends to fish, relax and put my head back on straight – but if I weren’t leaving this weekend I would certainly be enticed to snake my way through the Sea to Sky to see artists like Black Mountain, Buck 65, MSTRKRFT, Chromeo, and Metric up at Pemberton. I also would have left this morning to avoid the intense weekend traffic – good luck to whoever braves those roads! You could probably walk there faster than you could drive.
Also, please remember to keep voting for the FASHION Magazine Reporter Search – I will be away for the rest of the competition and won’t be able to remind folks to vote every day! It’s been a close race between Craig Long and myself for the Vancouver reporter position…so good luck to us both, we certainly need it!
Keep checking back, as Pariya and Carleen are still kicking around and have some interesting pieces to post in the near future. I hope everyone is enjoying some sunshine, wherever you are.

The legendary Miss604, aka Rebecca Bollwitt, has published a profile on me regarding Vancouver blogging and my quest to become an online reporter for FASHION Magazine. If you want to learn a little more about me, Vancouver fashion, and the FASHION Magazine competition you should swing by her site and check out our Q&A session!

My girl Nikki from Dominic Designs just relaunched her site, and it’s all shiny and new with some great new photographs (you might recognize one of the models). To celebrate, you can enjoy 25% off all online orders until the end of July.
Nikki uses beautiful reclaimed wood and leather offcuts within her collection, so you can reassure yourself that you’re making an eco-minded choice when you shop Dominic. I am a huge fan of the Dominique earrings and matching necklace (wear mine all the time). Nikki mixes and matches her chains and wood, so I actually have a few of the same styles in various colours since I love them so!
*Unrelated PS* Please don’t forget to vote for me for the FASHION Magazine Reporter Search. Bookmark the link and vote every day for the rest of the month!
I posted on the call for submissions months ago, and I’m proud to announce that I’ve been selected as one of 20 finalists across Canada who is up for a job with FASHION Magazine!

Again to the thrift store in Steveston, where everything is just a couple of dollars. I found this great coral dress, it reminds me of an old nurse’s uniform – and if I go to the Steveston Salmon Festival, I may just wear this! It ties up in the back, which adds some necessary definition around the waist line:

Then this white jumpsuit, which looks like another kind of uniform – a mechanic’s. It looks cute and very Fara Fawcett 70′s with the legs rolled up to the knee, but I think I might hem the legs and make them into shorts. Opinions?

My mom stopped at the antique store next door to pick up a table, and I saw this old wooden chest and shrieked a little bit. It was beyond my budget and mumsies knows I have been after a beautiful old chest for a while, so she made this my Christmas present (Christmas in July, indeed.) It has little hidden wheels, which I might actually remove because they are very stiff and squeaky – not of much use, as the chest is very lightweight:

This will house all of my knitting gear. It took me an entire day to rearrange the furniture in our house in order to make room for this new addition, and I like where it is but we’ll need a very large piece of art to put above it.
