antique shop, taken in Clinton after our weekend o’ fun in the Cariboo
I am getting seriously geared up for some busy months ahead – and ready to take it all on after a relaxing mini-vacation up in the Cariboo (more to come on that!)
Here’s what’s on my radar in the near future:
- Coverage from the Art Institute Fashion Design Graduates show, La Musique (happening as I type this)
- Canadian University Press‘ Western, Prairies, & Northern regional conference, October 24-26 at UBC, where I’ll be taking part in a roundtable discussion with Jeff Hamada of BOOOOOOM and Jackson Murphy of The Vancouverite on the topic of journalism and blogging.
- Portobello West, October 26 at the Rocky Mountaineer Station – I’ll be there with larry.
- BCBG Grand Reveal presented by Fashion Magazine, October 29.
- Vancouver Fashion Week, November 4-9. Will be uploading coverage of all the shows I am able to attend, and liveblogging as well.
- (212) Spring/Summer 2009 Preview Presentation, November 4.
- Obakki Spring/Summer 2009 Preview fashion show, November 6.
- Holt Renfrew party, November 14 – more details to come, stay tuned.
- Eastside Culture Crawl, again will be showcasing larry. all weekend long. Come say hi!
Phew – life is good when it’s this busy, right?

Maybe I indulged in one too many glasses of shiraz before the Presets/Cut Copy show at the Commodore Ballroom on October 9th, because all I can remember is dancing my little heart out. Or maybe I wasn’t tipsy at all and the reason I don’t recall the particulars is because the music was so fucking prime and seamless that I had just one simple thought running through my mind: move.

This is an open call out to fashion bloggers everywhere – if you are interested in taking link-swapping a gigantic step forward, I am interested in creating a solid network of blogs in an effort to feature fashion week and event coverage in other cities.
I know Montreal Fashion Week has begun, and Toronto starts next week – it kills me that I can’t be there to cover the shows myself. It’s a slow and painful experience, but this blogger collaboration/solidarity/world domination idea could be my salvation.
If you are interested in teaming up to share coverage of the best events in your city, and promoting your site to a wider audience in the process, please drop me a line and we’ll talk game plan. If you want to get off to a running start, put the call out on your blog as well and let’s get organized, people!

Obakki is having a stellar sale on all their brand new Fall/Winter 2009 merchandise this weekend – if you make a donation to the food bank, either in the form of cash or a non-perishable food item brought to the store, you get 25% off regular priced garments. Also, all bags and some jewelry are discounted at 50% off right now.
Above: beautiful green angora coat, you have to feel it to believe it. There are some great holiday dresses to be had as well.
Sale is in effect as of today and lasts until Obakki closes on Monday at 6pm.

I just got the entire Stella McCartney CARE organic skincare line, and just want to wash my face and apply lotions and elixirs every 5 minutes. The products remind me of walking into an Aveda store, beautiful sweet aromas – which makes sense as the entire line is 100% organic and natural. Not tested on animals, no genetically modified ingredients, no petrochemicals or preservatives = my new skincare regime. I have been mulling over choosing the right skincare line for a while now, and so glad I got CARE. Did I mention how good it all smells (scented with organic essential oils, of course)?
You can mix and match the products so I will be having fun with concocting my favourite combinations over the coming weeks. I can choose from a cleansing milk or foaming cleanser to start with; follow that up with a little spray of toning floral water and 5 benefits moisturizing cream or fluid (depends on what I’m looking for in texture that day, creamy or liquidy?); then comes the elixir, I can opt for calming and soothing, radiance and youth, or nourishing. And the night cream before bedtime. I almost don’t know where to begin. I am so excited for bedtime and morning, so I can test everything out.
Already my skin feels amazing after applying the radiance and youth elixir, but I’m looking forward to seeing how my skin changes over the next few weeks.
Some of the pieces I acquired at the clothing swap earlier this week – didn’t take photos of everything, but I won the boots and tunic via RPS domination and so had to share:

Kim really wanted these boots, but I annihilated her in a one-round sudden death RPS match. Sorry, Kim.

And this wrap dress was pretty cute, it was voted in my favour after a walk-off:

I also scored a wicked pair of new denimbirds from Shallom, they fit me perfectly – which made them automatically mine, as no one else was my size. Fairly high waisted, skinny leg, delicious (wearing them in the first image in the previous post.)
I want to do it again!
