Favourite shots from the Lacoste show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. I loved the colour palette here; mustard yellows, rich creams, and a collection of muted hues for the line of big woolly jackets and sweaters. My only criticism of the line is the flimsy jersey pants, and the models were walking with hands in pockets and it looked quite terrible to see the silhouette of the hand bulging through the pockets.
Very few embellishments on the pieces. Designer Christophe Lemaire cited Diane Keaton as Annie Hall as part of his inspiration for a bulk of the collection.

Loved the ties:

Boys and their sweaters:

Lush oversized winter sweater, and those mustard gloves. Great colour combination, and so very sexy:

If you’re going to go, go all the way. Not too sure about those socks overtop of the pant hem, though…

All in all, I really liked this collection. The right amount of coziness and chic – simply comfortable clothes that look damn good.
We briefly covered this earlier today but here’s some better shots of the outfits du jour.
Daytime -

Terri: efu tee, deadboys clubhouse bolero tee, mastermind of tokyo jacket, larry scarf, parts by heather necklace, erin templeton purse.
Shallom: deadboys clubhouse shirt, obakki leggings, obakki leather jacket, deadboys clubhouse sweater, parts by heather necklace, fiveleft purse, larry scarf.
Nighttime -

Terri: Dace dress, parts by heather earrings
Shallom: frenzii dress customized by kdon, adhesif vest

Ok the headline is a bit misleading. Neither of these models bailed per se but they did trip up in their heels, both during the Arise Magazine African Fashion Collective show. And both did a good job of dealing with the situation – took the heels off and carried on.

Arise Magazine and Thisday collaborated on the African Fashion Collective, featuring four designers and mostly models of colour. I was surprised to see upon entering the Promenade tent that many of the RSVP’d guests hadn’t shown up, so all of the standees ended up getting seated in their place. This, despite rumours that Tyson Beckford and Naomi Campbell might be walking the runway for this show…
The XULY.Bët show began with a black and white video of Grace Jones singing about eating flesh and other bizarre cannibalistic (but sexy) notions. Kris describes the vid as animatronic, robotic talking-head, as Jones’ head was all warpy and warbled.

Canadian model and runway coach Stacey McKenzie, who was a guest judge on Canada’s Next Top Model recently, appeared in the show (thanks to Trevor Ellestad for identifying the photo for us!):

The audience went wild when these two showed up…Alek Wek and Tyson Beckford:

And even wilder when Grace Jones took to the runway:
