The big prize in ION Magazine this month is “the gracey” scarf by larry.  This is one of my absolute favourite pieces, it was designed in collaboration with the grace-gallery and has become one of the top sellers – I can barely make them fast enough!  Enter at ionmagazine.ca to win, or inquire through the larry. website to purchase.

Tonight: YouthCO Presents Acquired Taste, a Carnival of the Senses

Tonight the YouthCO AIDS Society, now celebrating their 15th year, is holding a charity event at CANVAS Lounge in Gastown that will celebrate all things circus related.  Burlesque, contortionists and circus folk, what more could you ask for in a party?

I donated a larry. piece to the silent auction, proceeds of which will go towards prevention education and youth impacted by HIV/AIDS.  Looking forward to seeing what’s in the silent auction, I hear there are some choice items to be bid on.

If you’ve got $50 to spare, you should definitely come down tonight – it’s for a great cause, and this certainly won’t be a stuffy charity event.  I will have 3 of my loveliest ladies on my arm – Shallom Johnson, kdon, and The Conveyor Belt’s newest contributor Jenn Wint – so it’s sure to be a party.

Scandinavian Style at Urbanity

Urbanity is a familiar shop in Gastown that I pass often, though rarely venture into.  But after seeing some of the great pieces in store right now, I plan to go take a comprehensive sweep through the Danish, Norwegian and Swedish designs housed within the shop.

I love these NYGÅRDSANNA summer dresses, and the designRborg ring (below) could easily be a daily staple on one of my lucky digits.

I’m currently in the throes of designing and knitting for the Fall/Winter larry. collection, so learning about  small-scale knits from faraway countries is terrific inspiration.  These types of pieces are firmly in line with my current penchant for simple style, and garments that quite literally are woven with a story and history.

Button Button is Back in Gastown

After a months-long hiatus, Button Button is back with a brand-new location in Gastown!  I was so desperate for buttons these past months that I actually had to drop by the home of the owner to stock up – but got some beautiful vintage wooden buttons for larry. neckwarmers out of the deal.  Needless to say, I’m elated that the drawers and chests filled with thousands of beautiful buttons is back in the neighbourhood.
