Last week, Bombay Sapphire hosted an intimate soiree to showcase their newest cocktails and food pairings for the summer season. Rob Rainford of the TV show License to Grill demonstrated some BBQ techniques with Bombay-marinated lamb and steak while Merlin Griffiths, Bombay’s global brand ambassador and senior mixologist, showed us some delicious new cocktails. Last year’s event at the Shangri-La was absolutely stunning, and so too was this event at a loft in the heart of Gastown.
My favourite drink of the night was the Sapphire Sangaree:
4 oz Bombay Sapphire gin
2 oz Ruby Port
2 oz Cointreau
3.5 oz lemon juice
topped with seasonal fruits and mint for garnish.
(makes 4 cocktails/1 pitcher)
Visit the Bombay Sapphire website Inspired Entertaining section for loads of great recipes, mixology lessons, entertaining tips, and more. There’s some fantastic ideas for summer parties to be found. More photos of the event, courtesy of Raj Taneja and Urban Mixer, can be found here.
And here’s the final three days of our morning shots in London.

I absolutely LOVED London and hope to go back again very very soon…Carleen I miss you already!
Shallom from Stylefinds, Victoria of demiCouture and I had initially planned to go to the glass bottle house today and stage a little photo shoot, so when plans fell through Shallom and I took to my backyard and when we discovered some magical beams of light playing against the concrete wall, we rallied up some outfits and got shooting straight away. Here’s a sampling of the outcome of our Sunday playdate:

Tonight the YouthCO AIDS Society, now celebrating their 15th year, is holding a charity event at CANVAS Lounge in Gastown that will celebrate all things circus related. Burlesque, contortionists and circus folk, what more could you ask for in a party?
I donated a larry. piece to the silent auction, proceeds of which will go towards prevention education and youth impacted by HIV/AIDS. Looking forward to seeing what’s in the silent auction, I hear there are some choice items to be bid on.
If you’ve got $50 to spare, you should definitely come down tonight – it’s for a great cause, and this certainly won’t be a stuffy charity event. I will have 3 of my loveliest ladies on my arm – Shallom Johnson, kdon, and The Conveyor Belt’s newest contributor Jenn Wint – so it’s sure to be a party.

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
I like music too. I’ve just been tipped off to this great site, Apophenia, that provides links to zip files of entire albums. Good ones, too. See ya later, Limewire!
Speaking of music, you might also want to consider following Culturite’s blip.fm stream – he’s introduced me to many a great new band. I’m all over Neutral Milk Hotel and Son House right now, thanks to him.
Even more music news: if you’re into film/photography/good bands, you’ve got a chance to contribute content for a Choir of Young Believers‘ music video through BOOOOOOM! My buddy Jeff Hamada is always coming up with fantastic projects through his site, and this 8th endeavour is a really unique opportunity be a part of something spectacular. Check out the deets for the music video project here – deadline has been extended to July 1st.

Last night Bombay Sapphire hosted an event on the Shangri-La Hotel’s 58th floor private residence and introduced a select crowd of Vancouver bloggers and journalists to the season’s newest drinks, concocted by master mixologist Merlin Griffiths. Merlin demonstrated cocktail recipes and bartending tips while the crowd gleefully sipped on delicious beverages and embraced the stunning views of Vancouver, the ocean and our surrounding mountains.

There were many familiar faces in attendance – Shallom Johnson of Stylefinds, Rebecca Tay and Craig Long from FASHION Magazine, May and Ishra from Sweetspot, The Straight’s David Pearlman, photographer Darryl Humphrey, and Vanessa from Modern Mix Vancouver (who happens to be hosting an event at Suki’s tonight), and a few of the Style Spy gals – to name but a few.
Cheers!
