For anyone in the Vancouver area, this is a clothing swap you won’t want to miss. Monday night at the Grace Gallery, 7:30-11:30, bring your best old digs and a bottle of booze and swap the night away.
We were going to do this at my place as per usual, but the Grace Gallery offered up the space so we’re really getting serious now. A fine group of ladies will be participating and all have great style, so please don’t bring shitty clothes.
Garments, shoes, bags, accessories, etc – bring it all. We will have one massive free-for-all center pile for the things you really want to get rid of, and anything left over will go to charity.
Kim and I went through our wardrobes today and there are two enormous piles dominating my living room, it’s quite wonderful.

Today, October 1st!!! Larry and Dominic Designs are co-hosting an open house as part of the Fashion High Style Schedule, 17 days of fashion in Vancouver.
We’ll have wine, cheese and other goodies on hand – plus super cozy scarves made with BC alpaca wool by myself, and jewelry by the ever lovely Nikki Neves.
We recently had the best bike experience ever at Reckless Bikes. Stopped in for some free air (if you had windows, they’d wash those for you too), and got to discussing all the improvements we could make on our rides (Carleen: whitewall tires, new wheels, a good lube, possibly a paint job; Terri: new brakes, tires) with the extremely helpful gentlemen who work there.
Here’s how our fun-filled hour went down…
“Manager Guy” Ryan: Carleen, if you’re looking to really pimp out your ride, I’d recommend dating one of us and getting it done for free. We could really make this bike into a beauty for you.
Jeff Hamada over at BOOOOOOOM! recently blogged about this fantastic project launched by Randomly Run4istRun, a great arts/inspiration/design blog, and I had to share as well. Jude is building on the amazing collaborative and inspirational opportunities that arise through blogging by mailing out 10 notebooks to interested parties. Personal thoughts and inclinations, which we often reveal online (albeit superficially), will be shared the old fashioned way – written by hand and delivered via snail mail.
Participants are free to contribute anything – poetry, stories, images, collage, deep dark fears, secrets, whatever. If you’re not inspired, flipping through all the previous entries should get your creative juices flowing. When you’ve completed your mission, mail the notebook to the next person on the list and on it goes. For the sake of curious internets, entries will also be scanned and posted online.
This wonderful traveling diary will soon be heading my way (I signed up immediately) and I am anxiously anticipating its delivery.
We all deserve to receive some good mail once in a while. Head to the Do Not Leave Unattended page to read more details, and you too can gleefully check your mailbox every day until the notebook arrives.
